Do not use a footprint formula as a final gutter measurement. Rooflines can have wings, additions, valleys, and detached structures that a simple perimeter estimate misses.

Optional rough length estimate
For a simple rectangular roof edge, use 2 x (length + width) as a rough perimeter. Mark the result as an estimate. Do not use it for a complex roofline or as proof of actual gutter length. Count visible downspouts instead of estimating them with a fixed feet-per-downspout rule.
