Having guards doesn't take your gutters off the maintenance list, it changes what a cleaning visit involves. This guide explains what to expect if your home already has guards, of whatever type, installed.
Do you still clean gutters that have guards?
Yes. Guards are a review branch: tell us they are present, and we confirm guard handling is available for your address and the price before you commit.. Tell us guards are installed when you request so the visit is scoped and priced correctly from the start.
What actually needs cleaning if guards are already blocking debris?
Most guard designs block larger debris like whole leaves but still allow fine material through or let it accumulate on the guard's surface: pine needles, seeds, shingle grit, and dust. Depending on the guard type, that buildup can sit on top of the guard, underneath it, or both. A visit checks both, not just what's visible from the ground.
Does cleaning with guards take more time or cost more?
It can. Some guard designs need to be partially opened, lifted, or removed and reinstalled to access the gutter channel underneath, which adds time compared to an unguarded gutter. Other designs allow cleaning from the top without removal. Either way, tell us the guard type if you know it, or that guards are present if you don't, so it's priced accurately.
Will you remove my guards permanently or reinstall them differently?
No. If guard sections need to be opened or removed to clean underneath, they're put back the way they were found. We don't alter, repair, or replace guard installations; that's outside our scope.
How often do gutters with guards actually need a visit?
Less often than the same home without guards, but not zero. See the cleaning frequency tool: guards typically reduce a recommended schedule by roughly one cleaning per year compared to the same tree cover without guards, down to a minimum of an annual check.
What we do not do
We don't install, repair, or replace gutter guards, and we don't recommend a specific guard brand or type. If a guard is damaged or improperly installed in a way that's causing the problem you're calling about, we'll tell you rather than attempt a fix.
FAQ
Will you know what type of guard I have without me telling you? It helps to tell us in advance if you know, but the provider can also identify common types on site.
Can guards be damaged during a cleaning visit? Care is taken when opening or lifting guard sections, but if a guard is already brittle, loose, or poorly installed, that's noted rather than blamed on the visit.
Should I remove my own guards before the visit to make it easier? No, leave that to the visit; removing and reinstalling guards yourself isn't necessary and could affect how they're seated.
Does having guards mean I never need to check gutters myself again? Not fully. An occasional visual check from the ground for overflow, per signs your gutters need cleaning, is still worthwhile.
Why book this way
- Your price online in minutes. No callback, no estimate visit, no waiting for someone to get back to you. Typically the quickest way to book this service.
- One all-in price before any contact. None of the nine national gutter brands we read publishes a price; each asks for an estimate first (read 2026-09-16 and 2026-09-17).
- One point of contact from your request to the finished job. We work with a local partner and answer for the result.
- You pay only after the price and your booking are confirmed.
