Pecan and elm leaves come down in the fall, but live oaks shed most of last year's leaves in late winter and early spring as the new leaves come in; Texas A&M's plant clinic says the trees start to look sickly "typically in late January and in February." So a Dallas gutter often needs a second look after the live oaks drop, not only a fall visit. Spring storms add a separate risk: hail and wind can fill a clean gutter with debris in one night.

What gutter cleaning costs in Dallas

Of two written replies to our two-story request, only one explicitly confirmed a total with all mandatory fees. The other left downspouts, cleanup, haul-away, tax, and other fees open. The Dallas cost checklist lists the questions to ask before comparing them.

How do Frisco, McKinney and Plano handle yard waste?

Frisco and McKinney collect bagged yard waste every week, in paper bags only, with no separate leaf season. Plano also takes loose piles and adds a winter leaf allowance.

Frisco

Yard waste goes to the curb once a week on your trash and recycling day, in paper bags (plastic is not accepted), up to 10 bags or bundles a week (City of Frisco, read 2026-09-26). After a spring hail storm, a yard with more than 10 bags of debris will take more than one week of pickups.

McKinney

A separate truck collects yard waste on your trash day. The city says "All grass clippings and leaves must be placed in brown paper bags," up to 10 bags or bundles (City of McKinney, read 2026-09-26). Most McKinney single-family neighborhoods, including master-planned communities such as Stonebridge Ranch, belong to a homeowners association (Weidler Group, read 2026-09-26). If yours sets hours for contractors, put them in the request so the visit window fits.

Plano

Yard trimmings are collected weekly at the curb on your trash day, in large paper bags or loose piles, never plastic. In January and February the city also takes up to 20 bags of leaves a week (City of Plano, read 2026-09-17). Those are the months the live oaks start to shed, so in Plano a late-winter gutter visit lines up with the higher bag limit.
